Letting Go Changed Everything  06/04/26

Hello! Welcome to the channel! Hi! I am Wendy. I am happy to have you here. I have a question for you… What happens when your happy life falls apart? I mean REALLY falls apart? I have experience with this. It’s a story you might find surprising. I think if you found me here today, this might resonate with you.

Monday May 19 of last year was like any other day… sunny out and I felt secure and happy in my home. Scott and I had gone to a afternoon gathering at our friends’ home on Sunday. Life was good. Then my husband came in and there was tension. I don’t remember the words or what must have culminated in a disagreement. He jumped to the “D” word. He wanted a divorce.

So after 23 years of marriage, it was coming to an end.

Stay with me, while the story seems awful and sad, it really turned out well. See, while I was “happy” and felt secure I had been feeling something was missing too. So while I would not have rocked the boat, Scott was braver than I and did. I tried dissuading him, but he was firm. God bless him.

This change fostered great changes and big opportunities. I believe life does not happen to you, it happens for you.

I am fortunate to be independent in mind and spirit. I have ALWAYS found creative ways to explore and move through life, from helping to start up a grass roots preschool when my children were babies, cultivating an enormous garden and orchard, teaching myself to oil paint, building out a ford Transit van during Covid and more. If you’re here, I think you have a list that you can pull out of your back pocket too.

But being uprooted from what you know is shocking even in the most civil of separations. There was much real work to be done. My challenges included:

Caring for and considering my 91 year old mom who moved in with us a year earlier.

Searching for a new home.

Dealing with dividing property and personal items.

The mediation of money matters and settlements.

All this while still living under the same roof.

Five weeks into this mental transition, I was taking some Costco meat cuts out to the freezer in the garage and slipped on a wet floor in the utility room. I came crashing down on my left knee. Broke it horizontally in TWO. !!

So, this changed everything. Kindly, Scott and my Son got me the care I needed. I had surgery and was decommissioned to the living room couch for 8 weeks. The Universe had spoken. You need to sit down and STOP!

Stop and sit with this. Give yourself time to catch up, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I needed to calm my mind and get my resources in order.

So maybe my fall was a bit of karma in action, or maybe the universe was aligning me for success on my path. I know I never would have slowed down one bit, and probably would have made myself and everyone around me crazy in my wake.

Sitting on that couch, I had some revelations hit me.Here is an interesting truth… you really need to be clear with yourself, even in your daydreams, and random thoughts about who you are and what you want. Don’t waste another day being untrue to yourself.

I am an artist… I paint and spend an inordinate amount of time in my studio. Like any good artist. I have studio envy. I have always wanted a BIGGER space for my work for as long as I have been painting. (my cartons of completed canvases spilled out of my “office space” and flowed into my living room, filling it up in a very inconvenient way, and also upstairs in the bonus room.

As a daily runner I would find myself running past homes with simple spaces and thinking… “hmm. That would be lovely to have a small home like that of my own, where I could spread out and paint and live without all the daily responsibilities and distractions. And feeling guilty for doing something I loved” Never really thinking I might be conjuring it into reality.

The Universe ALWAYS listens to you. Be kind to yourself in your thoughts, and clear about your dreams. Because a few of years later, those daydreams became a reality, even without me trying.  In the words of the Talking Heads, “What out, you might get what you’re after.” It might just delight you.

Another interesting tidbit about this youtube channel journey… I started it back in August when I felt I had things I needed to say, during the tumult of emotions. I didn’t have much of a plan, just a feeling that I could do it. Well, I was premature, my Saggittarius nature galloping full throttle into everything it wants. I failed to see how my life was a bit of a dumpster fire at the time. I got side tracked and it got put aside.

Now, with the dust settled, I have been contemplating it. But I felt that I had failed and was not sure I should go for it. But this idea was sitting on my shoulder and not leaving.

So amidst this internal dialog,  I picked up my dusty “Mother Peace” circular shaped tarot deck. I have not asked for her guidance in a long time… This deck is lovely. I got her in the 90s from East West Book Store in Palo Alto when I was living in the Bay area. (It’s an arty deck with and earthy feel, and has interpretive books available too. I looked, it is still available if you google it.)

I decided I would draw a single card to answer definitively whether I should pursue working on my “This Crone’s Painted Path” channel.

I shuffled the deck. I closed my eyes, asked my question to the divine, and fanned them out across my bed. With eyes still closed, I ran my hand across the spread of disks and plucked one card.

The card in my hand was THE CRONE. My jaw dropped. There was my answer. It could not have been more clear! I love when the Divine shows up and hits you over the head with the answer!

I find if I just surrender my path to the divine and ask for guidance—and actually listen… the answers come.

I have learned to look for the signs everywhere. I am sure I mis a lot of them. Spirit is often so subtle. Its in the bird lighting on the tree above you. The play of squirrels. A smile from a person passing on the street. God is everywhere. You just have to pay attention.

This channel will be very much about sharing our journeys into a new brighter future. Growing new ideas, indulging in things we LOVE, and building better relationships with our new selves, with creativity and with spirit. There will be lively chats. There will be painting. There will be inspiration. There will be thoughts on healing and health. Our journeys are all different, but even in their differences, we have so much in common. The need to be seen and heard. To blossom into what we never knew we could be.

If you are still here, this might be a community to help carry you. Lets open this  new chapter in our lives. You know you have SO MUCH MORE to do!   Whether you are in a relationship or having exited one— its irrelevant. We all want to move into a better, fuller place.

Together we can move forward, find common ground here in this space, and find our own best paths.

Thank you so much for being here with me. I am holding you here in my heart. Much, MUCH love.

Wendy
